PROGRAM FOR YOUNG SINGERS.
- October, 2008 - Annual CPYO Retreat
WYNDHAM GARDEN HOTEL-HARRISBURG -
10:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M. introduction of upcoming production
of “Summer
Of The Swans” by COMPOSER TINA DAVIDSON, discussion
of the original novel by Betsy Byers upon which the opera
is based, afternoon acting workshop for character development.
- November 6th (7:30 p.m.), 7th (8:00 p.m.),
8th (8:00 .m.), 9th (3:00 p.m.), 2008 - CPYO performs with
CAPITOL OPERA HARRISBURG in their production of “LA
BOHEME” at
William Penn Campus Auditorium-2915 N. 6thth Street-Harrisburg.
- December 15th, 2008 - Annual holiday
concert at Country
Meadows-West Shore in Mechanicsburg.
- January - April 2009 - Ongoing Music & Staging rehearsals
for CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA YOUTH OPERA/CAPITOL OPERA HARRISBURG
CO-PRODUCTION OF “SUMMER OF THE SWANS."
- March, 2009 - CPYO gives four educational outreach
musical workshops with composer TINA DAVIDSON to schools in Central
Pa.
- Friday, April 24th(school performance),
Saturday, April 25th and Sunday, April 26th, 2009-WORLD
PREMIERE OF TINA DAVIDSON’S
Family opera “Summer Of The Swans”,
a co-production of CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA YOUTH OPERA and
CAPITOL OPERA HARRISBURG. Based on the Newbery-award winning
novel by Betsy Byers, the opera explores the delicate subject
of autism through the eyes of one family and the community
in which they live. All performances include a pre-performance “MEET
THE COMPOSER AND POET” LECTURE
BY COMPOSER TINA DAVIDSON AND LIBRETTIST EVA DAVIDSON.
Opening day reception after the 4/25 performance.

- May, 2008 - CPYO auditions and opening
