The Central Pennsylvania Youth Opera is the only company in the State of Pennsylvania to train young people ages 8 to 17 to present quality children's opera through mainstage performances and educational/community outreach to the community.

The CPYO was founded by members of the Harrisburg Opera Guild in 1999 as a part of the Harrisburg Opera. Separating in April of 2004 to become a unique and independent company, the CPYO is directed by Theresa Shirk Yerger. Our accompanist is Jeanne Bruce. Addie Appelbaum is the Founder and Executive Director of the CPYO.
